nature trail talawe 14th oct 2012,Nerul
BNHS organised a nature trail at Talawe, Nerul, Navi Mumbai. The trail started outside NRI complex at 7.30 am. Mr Julius Rego(Chapter Coordinator, BNHS) led the trail assisted by Ms Amandeep Kaur(Education Officer). Since the rains continued in October as well, the grass had grown over 5ft tall. We had to tread a lot of grass to reach the waterbody. We spotted plenty of birds. A flock of Lesser flamingoes took off as we approached the waterbody. Two avid photographers were busy clicking the birds. So we concentrated looking at the birds. Sand plovers and Whistling ducks Spot billed duck and Black winges stilts A red dragonfly Egg case of a praying mantis We saw a man made structure to regulate the flow of water. But couldn't figure out why the walls of the outlet were lined with a wooden contraption. Add caption ...
