Storytelling session Jeeva Raghunath
She came, performed and captured the hearts of every child
on the evening of 9th February at the Kalaghoda arts festival, 2013.
Chennai based storyteller, Jeeva Raghunath rocked. The venue was the lawns of
Mumbai’s Chatrapati Shivaji Maha sangrahalaya (Museum Gardens), Mumbai.
The storyteller performed twice, first at the launch of children’s author and illustrator,
Deepa Balsavar’s book series ‘Round and round stories’ and then at her own session titled ‘Storytelling with Jeeva.
When she took a break, the audience drifted away. A few minutes later when she
wielded the microphone to everyone came running back into the tent.
The tent turned out to be too small to small to accommodate
the overflowing audience. Those who couldn’t make it inside sat on the lawns
and held on to every word of the captivating storyteller.
A few minutes after the programme began, when she asked the
audience to join her in singing a crazy ‘Mosquito song’ the adults in the audience shed their
inhibitions and obliged. The interactive
session brought plenty of cheer among kids who thoroughly enjoyed making all
sorts of noises to keep up with the tempo of the stories.
Hope Mumbai and the rest of India sees and hears more of her. Jeeva is truly a talented storyteller.
Lovely post about a performance that really moved people. It is always inspiring to read about the passion, talent and dedication that go into such moments. Amidst it all, LearnifyU also holds the belief that confidence and stage presence should be instilled in the minds of children through public speaking, storytelling and performance related activities. This is incredible to watch young minds flourish with the appropriate platform and encouragement. Continue to share these wonderful memories!
